I think the 5-year chart of PayPal Holdings tells you what you need to know about the stock and its prospects.

Back in July 2021 they were trading around $311.00 per share. Yesterday they closed at $41.70, down by -20.31% the biggest one day fall in the name for 4-years, as the company missed Wall Street’s forecast for Q4 2025 earnings, and…[Read more]

Back in December 2024 I wrote this article for the Good Money Guide, which looked the potential for AI to change the fortunes of Walmart WMT US .

The last few weeks have been a wild ride, driven by a changeable macro background and extreme volatility within precious metals.

However the S&P 500 Consumer Staples sector has been rallying in the background ,the whole time.

In fact, it’s up +9.39% over 1 month and by + 11.30% over 3 months

Not a bad return from stocks which are…[Read more]

I talked about the spike in US Nat Gas prices last week, and I explained that artic weather across the North and mid-West US was a large contributing factor to that spike.

We can that relationship in operation today.

Last week temperatures in Chicago were -14C / -15C, today the forecasts are for a balmy -5.0C.
Nat Gas has traded lower…[Read more]

On Friday (30-01-26) morning I wrote:

“It will be interesting to see if the sell off continues this afternoon, and or into next week, or whether the structural issues in the market , and end user demand, support the silver price. For now as we can see in the chart below the path of least resistance remains to the downside.”

For now at least it looks like the commodity trade is taking a breather with gold and silver both sharply lower this morning that shakeout comes after spot Silver traded at new all time highs of $121.60 last night.

    As Trading Economics puts it:

Unless I am very much mistaken thats a gain of $26.00 in Freeport Mcmoran FCX US since the 12/01/2026.

And to be honest looking at the gap and the bold green candle on todays chart I feel they could go higher yet.

Copper spiked by as much as + 7.0% this morning and Antofagasta is up +6.60% in early London trade, which I believe bodes well for FCX US assuming the rally lasts and doesn’t bleed away into the US open.

Albemarle are down by 7.50% after comments from Treasury Secretary Bessent on the US dollar speaking to CNBC he said :

“The U.S. always has a strong-dollar policy and isn’t intervening in currency markets”

This follows on from comments by President Trump yesterday, that he wasn’t concerned about the weakness in the US currency .

The talk around the markets this morning is about the US$ and specifically its weakness.

The Dollar index has fallen by -3.0% in just a few sessions part of a near -12.0% fall seen over the last year.

Dutch bank ING believe the US currency can weaken further and that in their words “it makes no sense to stand in the way ”

You may recall that back on January 14th I picked South Korea to be the market/index that would outperform the S&P 500 over the course of 2026.

Using EWW, the South Korea iShares MSCI ETF, as a yard stick we are off to a good start, in fact I believe the ETF is up by more than +30.0% since I wrote this piece

$62.98- that’s the price of Freeport McMorran FCX US, in the pre-market today they are up +4.30% ahead of the regular session. And thus well above the resistance flagged in my previous post.

You can see the High Low Open Close ( last ) data, over the last month in the stock in the table below.

Albemarle ALB US added +4.59% in yesterday’s session.

However there seems to be resistance / selling around $189.00 ( see the chart below) .
Of course it has had a good run, rallying by almost +30.0% over the last month and by +10.77% this week, so some profit taking seems inevitable.

Freeport Mcmoran FCX US has reported earnings today, and looks likely to open higher, as its beats on EPS, and is upbeat about copper fundamentals right now.

The recent high in FCX has been $62.11, so a move above there today would be a vote of confidence in the numbers and outlook.
