1 month agoUS Dollar slumps against major currencies
Financial markets are always full of surprises. Many old timers will attest to this.
“Thirty years ago,” wrote Buffett in 1994,” no one could have foreseen the huge expansion of the Vietnam War, wage and price controls, two oil shocks, the resignation of a president, the dissolution of the Soviet Union…[Read more]

1 month, 1 week ago– JPMorgan retreats to uptrend support –
The fact that gold has zoomed past $5,000 without hesitation is telling.
Investors are extremely worried about recent geopolitical developments; and are scrambling to hedge their portfolios with hard assets. Gold, silver, platinum are premium assets that investors preferred to hold in the Age of…[Read more]

1 month, 1 week agoAncient metal (Tin) roars back to life
Tin is one of oldest metals around. The element (symbol Sn) was used by humans as early as 5,000 years ago, and was found in ancient Egyptian tombs. These days, tin is used in various industrial products, from solders to coating to cans.
China and Indonesia are two largest producers of raw tin ores…[Read more]

Earlier in the week, I discussed about the ‘Sell America’ topic due to intensifying macro volatility. The three main asset classes to underweight are: US dollar, Treasuries and US equities.

A year after the ‘DeepSeek’ moment, what has happened to the Chinese technology space? Plenty.
From chip-making to LLMs to robotics, the entire China technology chain is powering forward rapidly.

According to a recent weekend Financial Times article, major alcohol companies are sitting on a staggering $22bn worth of unsold products.[1]
This ‘lake of unsold spirits’ will likely swell further this year, when more stocks matured. The total unsold inventory hoard is likely to grow close to 40-50…[Read more]

1 month, 2 weeks agoBeware of overstretched uptrends
In the realm of investing, what’s the difference between Buffett and the rest? The answer is straightforward. He does things differently.
In what ways, you ask. For one, unlike most investors he is not really excited by rallies. He prefers declines. He even coined a famous phrase for this: “Be fearful when oth…[Read more]

Jackson Wong replied to the topic Why has the eToro share price done so bady? in the forum US Stocks
1 month, 2 weeks agoMany good points by Ed and Darren above.
I just add another point. Many of these newly-listed brokers tend to go through a ‘Boom-Bust’ cycle, where prices slump by 80-90 percent following their IPOs.
For example:
Coinbase (COIN) – $400 to $40 (-90%)
Robinhood (HOOD) – $80 to $8 (-90%)
WeBull (BULL) – $70 to $8 (-89%)et cetera.
eToro (TO…[Read more]

1 month, 2 weeks agoWhat is Microsoft’s chart trying to tell us?
Microsoft is one of the largest tech companies in the world (market cap $3.4 trillion).
A dominant (or monopolistic?) player in the first PC revolution, the company was able to pivot successfully to other booming tech areas, such as gaming, cloud and now, AI. Its corporate longevity in a hyper c…[Read more]

1 month, 2 weeks agoThe US stock market is in a league of its own.
At the time of writing, 12 out of the top 14 companies (by market cap) are American. Google (GOOG) is the latest tech company to hit the $4 trillion mark.

Jackson Wong replied to the topic Has Silver finally found its voice? in the forum Commodities
1 month, 2 weeks agoWhen silver is on a roll, it is best to stay out of its way.
The metal has a habit of churning around aimlessly for a long time until prices march resolutely northwards.
Has silver reached the the climactic end? I’m not so sure.
To bet on the spread narrowing (long gold; short silver) is a bet on gold outperforming silver.
This may well happen in…[Read more] -

1 month, 3 weeks agoAmazon (AMZN) to regain upward initiative?
Out of the top techs last year, Amazon’s (AMZN) share price was the least exciting.
Look at its trading range over past 12 months. Price was mostly bouncing in between $200-$240, with occasional ventures outside these parameters.
The tariff-induced sell-off in April kicked prices to $160; a bout of e…[Read more]

1 month, 4 weeks agoSWC essentially aped Microstrategy (MSTR)’s “bitcoin stacking” strategy, by diluting equity to buy bitcoins.
In doing so, SWC hopes that the market will reward the company with high-priced shares. Sometimes this works; sometimes it doesn’t.

When gold powered to new all-time highs back in 2024, silver was found languishing beneath $30 an ounce. That’s nearly $20 beneath its 1980 highs nearly half a century ago.
In other words, silver was trading – using inflation-adjusted pricing – a…[Read more]

This year, UK retail sales growth from…[Read more]
